Our Commitment to Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast provides this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available in the footer of our homepage and on almost every other page on our website. We will also attempt to make this available at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.
The Information We Collect
This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the websites maintained by the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast, which does business in the state of Maryland as the American Lung Association In Maryland, in Virginia as the American Lung Association In Virginia, and in North Carolina as the American Lung Association In North Carolina.
On some pages, you can make donations, order products, make requests, and register to receive materials. The types of personal information collected at these pages are general types of contact information and may include:

On some pages, you can submit information about other people. For example, if you make a donation in honor or memory of someone online and would like them to receive a notification or if you purchase a golf card as a gift and want it sent directly to the recipient, you will need to submit the recipient's address. In this circumstance, the types of personal information collected are general types of contact information and may include:

Other types of information may be collected, with your approval and if appropriate. Examples would be emergency contact or medical information if registering online for participation in an event run by the Lung Association.
How We Use Information
We use the information you provide about yourself when making an online transaction only to complete that transaction. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that transaction. We use the information you provide about someone else when making an online transaction only to ship the product or acknowledgment and to confirm delivery. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete that transaction.
For the products we offer that you can personalize, such as the Golf Privilege Card, the information you provide to create that product is only used for that purpose, and it is only disclosed to the person receiving the gift.
We use return email addresses to answer the email we receive. Such addresses are not used for any other purpose and are not shared with outside parties.
All information collected via our website is maintained in our local database. Our organization does use these names and addresses to send out information about the American Lung Association. This information may include requests to donate, information about upcoming special events, and/or information about programs/services which you have already used.
You may request not to receive such information by following the instructions below in the section entitled "How You Can Access Or Correct Your Information"
We use non-identifying and aggregate information to better design our website and to share with board members and other Lung Association executives. For example, we may report that X number of individuals visited a certain area of our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form. However, we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.
We never use or share the personally identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
Our Commitment to Data Security
To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast has put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. Furthermore, no credit card numbers or Social Security numbers belonging to website visitors are stored either physically or electronically.
Our Commitment to Children's Privacy
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.
How to Correct Your Information
You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request that credibly shows error. To do so, please contact Kelly Hill, Data Base Manager, at khill@lungva.org or (804) 267-1900. The Data Base Manager can also remove your information from our database. Please let us know your name and address and the change you would like made.
Third Party Release Protection
Except as provided herein, the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast will not sell to any third party your name, address, e-mail address and member name, unless you provide your informed consent, except to the extent necessary to comply with applicable laws, police investigations or in legal proceedings where such information is relevant.
The American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast allows access to database information by third parties providing technical services such as e-mail. In those instances, the third party is bound by these terms and has agreed to hold this information in confidence. Your informed consent shall be in the form of an "opt in" or similar policy. You understand and agree that the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast may disclose to third parties your zip code, gender and/or age, but only in the form of aggregated information.
The American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast reserves the right to offer you third party services and products based on the preferences that you identify during the registration process and based on your subsequent preferences; such offers may be provided to you by the American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast.
The American Lung Association of the Atlantic Coast reserves the right to terminate your account if it learns that you have provided false or misleading registration information.
